BUSH AND CHENEY'S FINAL DAYS
I found this to be a fascinating article. Now I am a little alarmed, even ashamed to admit it, but I liked Bush more after I read about his final days in office. It seemed that he acted with nobility and dignity in refusing to pardon some people he felt did not deserve a Presidential pardon.

SUMMER MOVIES
I saw "Bruno" recently. Now I loved "Borat" and I met Sacha Baron Cohen when I was dining alone at the Chateau Marmont. He introduced himself to me and I told him I was a fan. I think he is brilliant. I did not enjoy "Bruno" as much as "Borat", but I still did laugh!

IN GERMANY, AGAIN
I decided on Sunday last to return to Germany for further stem cell treatment for the cancer that I have been fighting for several years now. I made the call to my doctor there on Monday and come Thursday, was on a flight to Germany. I was unable to work and I was not getting better. I am happy to be returning to the clinic because I have found the treatment there to be wonderful.

CHANGE OF PLAN
I know I said I was going to be back in the pages of Vanity Fair magazine in the September issue, but I have been feeling unwell and, consequently, am behind in the edits on my new novel, "Too Much Money", which is still due in the bookstores in December. So it will not be September but I am hoping it is soon.

OH, PHIL
I laughed when I read the news that Charles Manson and Phil Spector are in the same prison, and that they are collaborating on a song together. I particularly liked the part where Phil said he once picked up the phone and it was Tina Turner or John Lennon, but now it is Charles Manson. A lot of people called me this morning when they saw the piece in The New York Post.

I HAVE BEEN QUIET RECENTLY
I have been a bit off-colour, as they say, these past few weeks. I still have not finished the edits on my book and am working with two tough (but great) ladies on it. The messages I have been receiving have touched my heart - thank you for all the wonderful support.

MY NEW NOVEL
I have changed the title of my new novel to TOO MUCH MONEY. It will be in stores in December. I still can't believe it will be finished. I have been working on this book for years.

REMEMBERING FARRAH FAWCETT
I was at the same cancer clinic in Bavaria, Germany that Farrah Fawcett was in on her final visit there. For part of the three weeks I was there, I had the room next to Farrah, but I never saw her once. I knew her slightly from Hollywood days and as the companion of Ryan O'Neal, whom I have known for years. It was her fourth or fifth visit to the clinic, and she was beloved there. She knew I was next door, and I sent her DVD's of my television series.and Academy screeners of the latest films. She loved the episode of my series about the famous Von Bulow case. She thought Claus was innocent. She was still making the documentary that showed so successfully on NBC. Alana Hamilton Stewart, the ex of George Hamilton and the ex of Rod Stewart, was there with her, serving as director of the documentary and best, closest, true friend of Farrah. I have such enormous admiration for Farrah. She wanted to live so badly. She fought so hard. She was magnificent. I think her film is a valuable document. It shows what it's like to have cancer. I was going to be on a Larry King show about Farrah, but I got cancelled out at the last minute because Michael Jackson had died, and the program for Farrah did not take place. She deserved a show. She was one brave lady.

MORE TREATMENT IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
I spent last weekend in the Dominican Republic. This time I went by myself - usually I take somebody with me. The airport business tired me out. They're exhausting anyway but especially when you're not feeling well. Now I feel great. Every time I have another treatment I am glad that I do.
