To his family.... when asked who I most would want to have dinner with I would always answer, Dominick Dunne, a truly authentic man. I am sorry for your loss. His life was so interesting and he could so clearly make anyone understand anything about what he was covering. I will so miss him, and his stories. Sincerely Robin Young

Dear Griffin, Alex and Hannah, Please accept my very deepest condolences on the loss of your beloved Father and Grandfather. No words can ease your pain but I hope the fact that people like me who did not even know him feel such a great loss because he is no longer in this world. God Bless
~ Debbie ~ 26|Aug|09

A lovely, lovely man who lived a fascinating life. I will miss you; I do wish I could stop by for tea one last time. Rest in Peace my friend.
~ Kristen ~ 26|Aug|09

There were so many headlines today especially with the passing of Sen. Kennedy. The moment I saw "Dominick Dunne", my whole focus was on him. His "Power, Privilege, and Justice" program is one I watch faithfully. It doesn't matter to me that I am watching repeat after repeat. His way of narrating made those repeats very easy for me to watch because he was a great "story teller." I, one little person in the universe, will miss him very much. I cannot imagine the show without him. My condolences to his family and friends.
~ Elisabeth from Orlando FL ~ 26|Aug|09

I was so happy to find a copy of Justice at a book fair just last Saturday. As with everything of his I read, it was both informative and entertaining. And I couldn't put it down! Whether at the end of a VF article, or an episode of PP&J;, my constant reaction was to think....he couldn't make that up, could he??? Thanks for your courage in shining the light on those who would otherwise have us think they're better than the rest of us!!!! BK
~ Bob ~ 26|Aug|09

Thank you, Mr. Dunne, for your TV show which showed that, in many cases, those in a position of power do get their just desserts like the lowest criminals. Your writing will be missed, but at least the show lives on...
~ Creighton Rabs ~ 26|Aug|09

My sincerest condolences. I thought Mr Dunne was just a wonderful man. I loved his series and how he fought for justice for his slain daughter. I never missed an episode of his show and have followed him for years. I just can't tell you how sad I was to hear of his loss today. I will miss him very much.

I always looked forward to each and every Vanity Fair and always read first what Dominick Dunne wrote. I loved his style of writing and it was bittersweet when he talked about these long lost stars that were in there prime many years agao but were still fascinating to listen to each word he wrote. I will truly miss his words that he wrote.
~ Keith ~ 26|Aug|09

Loved, loved, loved him immensely from seeing him on Courttv. He always made me laugh out loud with his witty remarks. I always wished he had met my mother (she is an 85 year old widower and a CT resident). He would have been a great step-dad. He was a rare gem and I will miss him. A loyal fan.
~ Linda Bunblasky-Cioffoletti ~ 26|Aug|09

I am truly heartbroken by Mr. Dunne's passing. I read all of his books, devoured his columns and religiously watched Ppwer, Privilege, Justice. His constant reminders of the inequities in our judicial system were very much needed. RIP, Mr. Dunne

We are saddened by the passing of Dominick Dunne. He was a great writer. We have read all of his books, seen all of his films, enjoyed his TV show and always looked forward to his columns in Vanity Fair. No one will ever be able to take his place.
~ Donald Pile & Ray Williams ~ 26|Aug|09

Rest in Peace, Dominick. I can't put into words the admiration I had for him, and how he re-started his life at age 50. It was a thrill to run into him some years ago chatting up the CBS cameramen at D. J. Reynolds on West 57th. I was so in awe I just kept stupidly grinning at him. We lost some good Irishmen this year, and Dominick's at the top of the list. Rest in Heaven.
~ Francine G. ~ 26|Aug|09

Rest in peace. Well done. Vanity Fair will not be the same.
~ Lisa ~ 26|Aug|09

There was no better way to hear that "the rich bad guy got it" than from the voice of Domminick Dunne! Who else could mix with royals & the well-heeled on Saturday & share the raw gossip on Monday! Surely he has all the answers to the puzzles he covered & will wait at "the gate" for Martha Moxley's assailant.. Job well Dunne...
~ Daisy Miller Davidson ~ 26|Aug|09

G-d bless, Mr. Dunne. Always loved your personal writing style and would always read your column in Vanity Fair. You will be missed.
~ Terry Taylor ~ 26|Aug|09

Mr. Dunne was the reason I started reading Vanity Fair. I could not wait for the new magazine every month. When I found out about who is daughter was, I could understand why he was such a great writer. His family went through so much. It became his way of life to help bring to everyone's attention to people who thought they could get away with anything because of who they were and because of him, they were brought to trail. Thank you Mr. Dunne for including all of us in your stories and your life. Rest in Peace
~ Amy ~ 26|Aug|09

Rest in peace, dear Dominick, I miss you already.

Shopping at Borders at Columbus Circle this morning, of course! A handsome display of "After the Party," the lead film in the documentary section....Movie star, author, journalist, TV personality, bon vivant, great friend and big sweet funny smart salty heart...your father and grandfather, who always spoke of his family with the most robust appreciative love, was instrumental in my earliest successes as a writer and a constant consolation in the years since. He will be missed, eternally adored, imitated, and never forgotten...his star to heaven now...my heartfelt sympathy to you his family and to all his friends....from Billy Norwich
~ billy norwich ~ 26|Aug|09

Mr. Dunne was old Hollywood. He was one of the last real gentlemen, and one of the great crime writers. A man of integrity and great wisdom- he will be missed in perpetuity. Rest in Peace Mr. Dunne. TA
~ tama anderson ~ 26|Aug|09

I heard one of Mr. Dunne's last interviews a few weeks back on Mark Simone's radio show and was relieved and heartened to hear from Mr. Dunne himself that he felt fine and was resuming working. I'm saddened to hear my prayers for his full recovery were not answered the way I would have liked. Mr. Dunne, thanks for all you've given - you will be sorely missed, but are in a far, far better place now. My deepest sympathies to your family and friends. You are the last of a dying breed. Rest in Peace.
~ N. D. Thacker ~ 26|Aug|09

to his family: death is not the end of a relationship but a start of a new one... you will feel him when you need him most... he will council you, he will guide you and of course, he will continue to love you... he's not far... he is now safe and out of pain... he's with his daughter, he loved so much... so i say to you: "remembered joy" Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free! I follow the plan God laid for me. I saw His face, I heard His call, I took His hand and left it all... I could not stay another day, To love, to laugh, to work or play; Tasks left undone must stay that way. And if my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss... Ah yes, these things I, too, shall miss. My life's been full, I've savoured much: Good times, good friends, a loved-one's touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief— Don't shorten yours with undue grief. Be not burdened with tears of sorrow, Enjoy the sunshine of the morrow. please accept my sympathy and put your faith in god... you will be in my prayers... god bless...

I too, waited for Vanity Fair to arrive to read the latest. One day when walking down Madison Avenue Mr. Dunne passed me on the street. It was obvious by my reaction that I recognized him and he nodded and smiled. What he did not know is that I have read every book, article, watched every television show and appearance. He was a class act and I will miss his writing and insight immensely. He slways revealed his pride as a father and I wish you peace.

Dominick, I always looked forward to your Vanity Fair column and eagerly read it the minute I received each issue. I'll miss your insider knowledge and nuggets of gossip. Like you, I'm restarting my career after years of success followed by self destruction that has evolved into advocacy. You've given me hope that it can be done with panache. I know you went straight into Dominique's arms, what a reunion it must have been. Cheers to you, thank you for everything and put in a good word for the rest of us left behind. x

I will always have fond memories of a man who spoke the truth. I know he did what very few could accomplish. His passion through his personal life was justice and I believe he wanted others to get justice for there own personal life. I will remember him for that. I hope that his program will continue to air under a different talk show host. There were many life lessons to be learned through those shows. I know you are with your family now Dominick resting in our Lords kingdom sharing justice with God. I know he will have an important role in heaven. May the best come to him yet!!!!!

"I would have slipped an envelope full of money over a table in South Philly", my dad said. He was pointing me towards the strength of Mr. Dunne's character. That was my introduction to Dominick Dunne. I never met or spoke to him, but like so many others, I felt like I knew him. I'll miss more than that neat and tidy look and that accent from the 'swells'. Your frankness and sense of fair play applied to everyone. It ran through your articles in Vanity Fair and was the recurrent theme of your Crime Channel show. Justice. Losing you is heartbreaking and I can only imagine the loss to your family. You (all) are in my prayers today. Farewell, Mr. Dunne.

My girlfriend and I love watching Power, Priviledge and Justice. We are enthralled by each new episode, and we are saddened that due to his passing on this, my mother's 75th birthday, that we will not see any episodes written, produced and narrarated by him. He was one class act, and he knew what really was and is going on. As far as I am concerned, the world lost one heck of a classy person. May he rest in peace.

What a sad day for sweet, strong Irish men.
~ Kate ~ 26|Aug|09

I met Mr. Dunne at a book signing in Minneapolis, just before he went to California to cover the trial of the Menendez brothers. At the time, his fame was yet to come; he sat alone at a table with perhaps one or two people in the store, buying his books and having them autographed. He seemed a little shy, alone, but so elegant and so willing to talk and answer questions. Following the Simpson trial, it is hard to ever imagine Mr. Dunne alone again. I've followed his articles in Vaniity Fair, and read all his books. Will we ever see his last novel, the update to People Like Us? He will be so very missed.
~ Kay Roseland ~ 26|Aug|09

I so enjoyed all the Mr. Dunne wrote and will miss his diaries and books. He introduced me to a lifestyle I will never have and showed that although someone is wealthy, they are, many times, not living an enviable life. Mr. Dunne is respected for his body of work, as well as all he did for the victims of crime.
~ Janet ~ 26|Aug|09

Very sad to read the news that Mr. Dunne passed away. I met Mr. Dunne during the Menendez trial in Los Angeles and had a chance to tell him how much I loved his books and articles. He was an obviously kind and caring man and his writing will keep his memory alive forever. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. America has lost a fine writer and a fine man. ~ Julian A. Ogalde ~ 26|Aug|09

Dear Family of Dominick Dunne, How terribly sad that such a voice for justice and family devotion has been stilled. I have read and been inspired by Mr. Dunne's work for years, beginning with the Two Mrs. Grenville's, and continuing with his Vanity Fair pieces. I was unable to watch the O.J. Simpson trial, or anything about him after the lives scenes of him as he was escaping in his 4x4 on the L.A. freeway, as Simpson, and the media circus sickened me to my bones. However, Dominick Dunne's Vanity Fair coverage I read entirely, aware that this was the work of a highly estimable being. He restored the public's outlook to one of sense and sanity. Mr. Dunne was a beacon of hope for truth and goodness.
~ Nan Jorgensen ~ 26|Aug|09

~ Magdalena ~ 26|Aug|09

This is such a sad day for me. I loved your work--books, magazines, television. The highlight of my day would be to get the newest edition of Vanity Fair in the mail and see that one of your articles was in it. I wouldn't even make it into the house before I was reading it--many times I have been found sitting on the driveway or in my car delighting in the tales you told. You will be missed greatly.
~ Linda ~ 26|Aug|09

Rest in peace my friend. My heart and prayers go out to the family. Been a fan of yours for a long time Dominick loved your articles in Vanity Fair only reason why I bought the magazine. Truthfully out of all the famous people in world you would be on top of the list to meet, because of the time period you grew up in and the history that you saw in Hollywood. Where ever you are hope you write about them and they will enjoy it as much as we did.
~ Paul ~ 26|Aug|09

May God Bless you and your loved ones..
~ Gonzo ~ 26|Aug|09

What a sad day. Mr. Dunne was my absolute favorite writer. I have all of his books, read all of his articles in Vanity Fair, etc...May he rest in peace. My condolences to his family. Now who is there that could possibly attempt to continue the spirit of his good works? I can think of no one. We've lost a true American Icon today. So sad.
~ Richard Stewart ~ 26|Aug|09

To lose two great people on the same day burns my heart. "Power, Privilege, and Justice" is one of my favorite shows. I always looked forward to seeing it. I don't know what the show will do now because Dominick can't be replaced. I will miss his matter of fact way of speaking and his face that lent credit to the stories he told. To his family, others close to him and other fans my condolences. His death as that of E. Kennedy sadly ends an era. He will be missed.
~ Carol ~ 26|Aug|09

I've loved reading all of Mr. Dunne's columns in recent years. How I will miss him! I am left with deep feelings of sadness, yet great gratitude for his work. Thank you, Dominick, for enriching our lives!
~ Priscilla Schneider ~ 26|Aug|09

Everytime there was an article by Mr. Dunne in Vanity Fair, it was the 1st thing I would read. I will miss you. R.I.P. Dominick Dunne. May you be reunited with your loved ones.
~ Annie-Claude Lague ~ 26|Aug|09

My deepest condolences. There is no one who respects and understands the human condition more than a great storyteller. Mr. Dunne was truly that!
~ J.C. Robinson ~ 26|Aug|09

My condolences to the Dunn family. I was saddened to hear of Dominicks passing. He will be greatly missed. I will miss that voice and his wonderful work. RIP Dominick. Donna K
~ Donna Kubitz ~ 26|Aug|09

I am shocked and saddened to hear of Mr. Dunne's passing. He was one of my favorite writers and the main reason I subscribed to Vanity Fair. You could always count on a truthful report from him as he covered celebrity trials and managed to convey his thoughts to his readers in a personal way allowing them to feel like they were in the courtroom. He will be sorely missed.
~ J. Norman ~ 26|Aug|09

I was shocked and heartbroken to hear of Mr. Dunne's passing. I have been a huge fan for many, many years, having read all of his books (more than once) and subscribing to Vanity Fair mainly to read his column. I have followed his televison show and and so enjoyed his accounts of the lavish parties and events he attended. His trial coverage was amazing. The world will be hard pressed to find another writer such as him. God Bless Mr. Dunne and his family.
~ Robyn ~ 26|Aug|09

Rest in peace after a job well done.
~ Jeff Dunn ~ 26|Aug|09

I am too shocked to speak. I knew Mr. Dunne was ill, but I had no idea it was terminal. I will miss him so; I have all his books and I always read his column in Vanity Fair. Rest in peace, Mr. Dunne. You have done a fine job.
~ Cecilia Sheppard ~ 26|Aug|09

He will be sadly missed by all of his fans. His books and his program intriqued me. He was such a talented man. My sympathy to the family
~ Glenda Baumann ~ 26|Aug|09

Dominick, I got to know you through mutual friends in Connecticut and we laughed together...you made my summer telling me I was the funniest person in the room! Being a guest at you house was a very special occasion for Beth and me. Good bye and rest easy Jonathan Mayer
~ Jonathan Mayer ~ 26|Aug|09

Another wonderful spark has been extinguished, we will not see his like again. I am very sorry about his death and wish the family and friends peace.
~ Willow Pearce ~ 26|Aug|09

Dominick Dunne's stories in VF took the reader to another place, another time and to a level of intrigue that was fascinating. He'll be sorely missed.
~ Pam ~ 26|Aug|09

Dominick Dunne was a hero of mine and I am saddened to learn of his passing. His painfully honest biography made a real impression on me when I read it a few years ago. He was someone who hit bottom and had the courage and fortitude to come back all the way. To use a show business term (in Dominick's honor) he had one of the greatest "second acts" in history. RIP Mr. Dunne.
~ Bruce Armstrong ~ 26|Aug|09

Dominick... Now the guest of honour at God's table. I wish I could have met you in person to tell you how much your books and articles engaged me. The world you wrote about was fascinating. No one, NO ONE, wrote about high society like you did. Only through you could a regular guy like me get a glimpse of what it was like to attend the dinners and coctail parties of the rich and famous. You seemed like such a great guy to hang out with. You must have been otherwise why did so many influential people keep inviting you to their homes? You dressed with panache, you were elegant, interesting, and you had real depth to your personality. I could tell from your insights into other people. I really feel bad for Griffin. His dad was a stand-up guy.
~ Randal ~ 26|Aug|09

Our condolences to Dominicks Dunnes family and friends. Years ago, I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Dunne at his home in CT. My husband Brian and his boss at the time Rick, were doing some carpentry work for him. My husband came home and asked me if I knew who he was. I was like, are you kidding me? He is one the the best authors on the planet. He also autograpehed one of his books for me, which I treasure to this day. My husband had to stop at this home one day and drop something off. We had our two sons with us at the time. We stayed in the car and he went to the door. The next thing I know, Mr. Dunne, in a flannel shirt and knee high boots, is telling us to get out of the car and come in the house. This man was so wonderful to our sons and myself. He was showing us around his home. For someone so famous, he was the most humble person. I could have sat and talked to him all day. That incredible mind and that voice. We have lost a fantastic author and person. I will be buying his book when it comes out in December. I will miss his writing very much. A very gracious man.
~ Tina Campbell ~ 26|Aug|09

You will be Truely missed. My condolences go out to the family and friends. I don't think that Court TV can replace you. You are " One Of A Kind "
~ Zain Nelson ~ 26|Aug|09

Dominick Dunne was one of the very few writers who chronicled news events without a directive, agenda, or fear. And besides that, his writing has a slightly cynical flair toward the arrogant and selfish that makes his stories uniquely pleasing to read. Never another man like him.
~ C.J. ~ 26|Aug|09

I was afraid of this day since Dominick Dunne's column has been absent from 'Vanity Fair' for months now. The magazine just won't be the same and the world just won't be the same. There will never be anyone to replace him. At least he'll be able to be with Lenny and Dominique again. RIP, DD - you will be missed.
~ Margaret Barrett ~ 26|Aug|09

Dear Dominick, I wish I had known before now that you had a website--I never thought to check. I wish I had sent you a message to thank you and let you know how much enjoyment I got from your work over the years. You seemed like such a wonderful man, your family and friends were very lucky to have you in their lives. I will miss you. Marji
~ Marji Holbrook ~ 26|Aug|09

What a great man! I fell in love with his writings in Vanity Fair on the O.J. Simpson trial. Dominick, you will be missed.
~ Shanna Pearson ~ 26|Aug|09

Rest in peace, Mr. Dunne. My sincere condolences to your family. Your fascination with people and great story telling ability has inspired me to begin writing later in life, as you did. God Bless You!

I am so sad to hear of the passing of Dominick Dunne. I loved the television show and the books. I feel a lost in my own life because I enjoyed the way he wrote and told the stories on t.v. and I looked forward to anything he had coming out. He will be greatly missed.
~ Carol Phillips ~ 26|Aug|09

So sad to hear the news today. I loved your writing and always read you first in Vanity Fair. You will be missed.
~ Deb ~ 26|Aug|09

I have been a fan of Mr. Dunne's work for many years. I saw how he used the tragedy of the loss of his Daughter to push himself to fight for victim's rights. My first thought at the news of Mr. Dunne's passing was how sad I was for MYSELF as a fan of his. My second thought wat that Mr. Dunne will be happily reunited with his sweet Daughter and his ex-wife / friend Lenny. I'm also glad that Mr. Dunne lived long enough to see OJ Simpson go to jail (even if it was for the robbery charge in Las Vegas).
~ Donna ~ 26|Aug|09

I was very sorry to learn of Mr. Dunne's passing today. I have been an avid reader of his column in Vanity Fair for years. Knowing that he was over 80 years old, I felt that the column must come to an end soon. When he had stopped appearing, I was not surprised but hoped he might resume it. I remember his sadness when his brother died. I hope Mr. Dunne was heartened by the knowledge of how he delighted people over the years with his anecdotes. I can remember few novels that held me in thrall like "Another City, Not My Own." I wish I could have met him at a party. My deep condolences to his children.
~ Sandra Warren ~ 26|Aug|09

I will miss your spirit, your old-world charm and your delightful story-telling. Rest in Peace Mr. Dunne.

Godspeed Dominick... Every month when my coveted Vanity Fair arrived I quickly raced to your article first. I could not get enough of your clever writing, insights, amazing connections and fascinating personality. I so missed reading your wonderful pieces these past many months and am heartbroken that you have lost your long battle with cancer. You fought hard to the end and will be universally missed. You were truly an original and ironic that you passed on the same day as Ted Kennedy...two amazing men that gave the world so much in different ways...you are both one of kind and irreplaceable. Prayers and thoughts are with your family...I will be the first in line at the bookstore when your novel arrives....surely a massive bestseller, like you!

Please accept my condolences on the loss of your father. I have read all his books, and recently viewed the documentary, 'After the Party', which moved me to tears. There will never be another diarist/writer like Mr. Dunne. He was also a TRUE American hero, and I will miss his observations/diary entries in Vanity Fair-which will, unfortunately never be the same. May he rest in peace.

I am surprised and so sorry to hear that Dominick has passed away. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. I have read most of his books and all of his articles in Vanity Fair. He just fascinated me with the way he had entry into another world and communicated to the reader that despite wealth and privilege, we are really all the same, very human. He wrote with an honesty that jumped out at the reader and made one feel that one was there with him witnessing extremely interesting events. His observations were keen and well written. I enjoyed it all! A Fan

I was so sorry to learn just now of Mr.Dunne's passing. I have been a fan of his for many years, have read all of his books, look forward to reading the new one when it comes out in December, and have been missing him recently in Vanity Fair. For years his name would be the first thing I'd look for in that publication,I always read his column first, and it was a disappointing month if he wasn't in it. The world will be a poorer and definitely more boring place without you Mr.Dunne. My sincere condolences to the Dunne family. Paula Brink, Vancouver, Canada
~ Paula Brink ~ 26|Aug|09

Many blessings and condolences to your family. You put up a brave fight. May your soul finally rest in peace, and may you be reunited with your loved ones....

As a young boy growing up in Australia, Vanity Fair magazine always arrived many months out of date (still does), but I devoured Dominick’s words – from his first article in November 1982 through to his last in October 2008. He was a truly inspirational writer who will be missed for a long time to come.
~ Josh from Australia ~ 26|Aug|09

When I heard that Ted Kennedy had died I wasn't too surprised, as I knew since he missed his sister's funeral a couple of weeks ago that he must be in truly grave condition. When I heard just now that Dominick Dunne had passed away, I was completely shocked and saddened as I didn't realize he was ill. Whenever I watch "Power, Privilege, and Justice" his sweet face never seemed to match his sharp-tongued commentary -- and it always made me think of Farrah, as she said in her recent special it was one of her favorite shows. Really a sad day for the good guys.
~ Kelly ~ 26|Aug|09

Dear Family and Friend's, I would like to express my sincere sadness in the passing of Mr. Dunne. I have truly enjoyed his stories and TV show. I am a stage 4 Melanoma Cancer 'Miraculous' story and I know through first hand the battle with cancer. God be with you and help keep you strong during this time of loss. He is out of pain and is no longer suffering. I can't remember? Did he do Senator Ted Kennedy's story? If not, he should have.... In Rememberence, David K. Sumrell

Who could ever fill the shoes of this remarkable man of perception, wit and style? He was pure gold in a world of dross. I shall miss him.
~ John-Michael Howson ~ 26|Aug|09

Mr. Dunne, You are one of my heroes and you're life is truly inspiring. Thank you for sharing your gift and you will be sorely missed. My thoughts to your family.
~ Cecily ~ 26|Aug|09

A much-needed voice for victims has been silenced. While others focused on the criminal, Mr. Dunne made sure that nobody ever forgot the victims of horrible crimes that sometimes went largely unpunished. There is simply no one like him, but we can help carry on his legacy by always speaking out on injustices and the travesties of the legal system. Thank you, Mr. Dunne, for being such a champion of victims. Your words will live forever.
~ Julie Catalano ~ 26|Aug|09

R.I.P. Dominick. I will miss you so much. I devoured your books and Vanity Fair columns. I enjoyed getting a glimpse of the rich and famous through your eyes. Without you I would not know how to pronounce "often" or the importance of Porthault sheets. You will be sorely missed. I hope you are enjoying heaven with Dominque and Lenny.
~ Amy ~ 26|Aug|09

I'm very sorry to hear of Dominick's passing. He was a riviting writer and advocate for the victims' of the world. He'll be remembered as a champion to those who couldn't speak for themselves. God Bless his family.

I really love his work. I read his book about the OJ trial and loved it. He was fascinating to watch on tv on his crime show. His voice made the show much more interesting. He will be missed. He was one of a kind.

I have loved the Dunne family ever since I saw "Poltergeist" in 1982 and then was stunned and devastated by the murder of Dominique Dunne. I am so very sad today for the loss of Dominick, but at the same time I know the first face he saw was that of his beautiful daughter, for whom he grieved for so many years. I know he is as happy as can be with her and with his former wife, Lenny. My prayers are with Griffin, Alex & Hannah tonight.
~ Leigh ~ 26|Aug|09

I was so sorry to hear of Dominick Dunne's passing. How I will miss him. The only reason I ever read Vanity Fair was to read his true crime column. He was SO smart, such a very good writer and he knew just everyone! I loved that his column was so filled with names, big names. He rubbed elbows with the best. I wrote to Dominick just a couple of months ago to complain that my Vanity Fair had once again arrived without a written word from him. He write back to say he would have a column in the Sept issue. When I got that issue, saw that he wasn't in it - well, I felt my heart sink a bit.
~ Betsy ~ 26|Aug|09

One of the main reasons why I'd turn my television on was because of Mr. Dunne. Very accurate and agile with dignity, he stood for truth and the realest form of what REALY TV is supposed to be. REALISTIC! RIP my friend. We were all honoured by your presence!

He was also my favorite writer. He will be missed by me (very much) and I'm sure by all of his loyal readers. He was the one person I would have loved to meet if I would have ever had the choice of meetime someone famous. He was amazing. To the Dunne Family: I am horribly grieved at the loss of the great Mr. Dunne. I first became acquainted with him after I read "The Two Mrs. Greenvilles" and I followed his Vanity Fair column, all of his books, his tv show, and his talk show appearences. I have been batedly awaiting his new book. However, although I am assured it shall contain the same great Dunne charm as all of his writing, I shall be reading it with large tears in my eyes knowing his voice has now been silenced. The world has lost, with his passing, a strong crime victim supporter, a supber writer, and one heck of an interesting guy. Bless each of you in your time of grief and you are in my thoughts and prayers. Sincerely, Anne Carson Hodges Winston-Salem, NC

I am so sorry to hear this news. I'm a big fan of Dominick and his books. I love his TV show PP&J.; He always exposed the truth about the rich and privilaged. Those stories on his show would get me so angry when justice wasn't served. I felt the same way when his daughter didn't get justice. How that man who killed her could just go on with his life. The gall!! I hear he has one more book coming out and has a DVD. I will be getting both. RIP Dominick. There won't be another one like you.

Darn. I didn't know you had a website of your own. The main reason I subscribed to Vanity Far was for your articles. It was with great sadness that I read of your passing. RIP Dominick! Sincere condolences to your family.

I long admired your work and what you stood for, which was justice for innocent victims, who often had no voice, but you were their voice. Rest in peace Dominick, you are now with your beautiful Daughter...

We have just learned of Mr. Dunne's passing on this, already, sad day. The death's of Sen. Kennedy and Mr. Dunne on the same day is indeed ironic, I think ... both achieved greatness in their lives and yet remind us that we all are imortial. My aging uncle loves every word he wrote and couldn't wait until the next issue of Vanity Fair to read more of his good work. His duty and service to his country serve as a benchmark for today's youth to strive for. Our thoughts go out to his family, friends and to his many, many fans. Thanks for the memories!

It was with great sadness I learned of your death, Dominick. I still remember first meeting you when we both covered the von Bulow re-trial in Rhode Island. We became fast friends. I always enjoyed dinners and conversations with you, my friend. Rest in peace. Charles

Journalists with courage and social insight are rarer all the time. His voice will never be duplicated.
